Interested in sharpening your OEC skills and becoming a stronger patroller?
Join us this summer for Intro to Senior OEC, a casual, no-pressure opportunity to learn what the Senior OEC program is all about and decide if it might be right for you.
Senior OEC isn't just for newer patrollers looking to take the next step. Whether you've been patrolling for 2 years or 20 years, the program provides valuable experience that helps strengthen decision-making, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Through realistic scenarios, you'll be challenged with situations involving multiple patients, difficult extractions, equipment failures, communication obstacles, and dynamic incidents that require teamwork and critical thinking.
The goal isn't simply to prepare for a Senior OEC test—it's to become a more confident, capable patroller who is better prepared for the unexpected. Many experienced patrollers find that Senior OEC helps them refine skills they've been using for years while exposing them to new ways of thinking through complex situations.
Intro to Senior OEC
Saturday, July 25
Rain Date: Saturday, August 1
Location: Boylston, MA
This introductory session is designed to be welcoming and informative. You'll have an opportunity to meet instructors and past participants, ask questions, see examples of the types of scenarios used in the program, and learn what to expect throughout the Senior OEC experience.
There is absolutely no commitment to enroll in the Senior OEC program by attending this event. If you're curious about Senior OEC, come check it out and see if it's something you'd enjoy.
We'll also be hosting a cookout lunch, giving everyone a chance to relax, connect with fellow patrollers from around the region, and enjoy some good food while learning more about the program.
Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, become a stronger leader, improve your patient care and scene management skills, or simply learn more about Senior OEC, we encourage you to join us.
To help us plan for lunch, materials, and personnel, please email sroec@emari.org by Friday, July 17 to let us know if you plan to attend.
We hope to see you there!
Per the EMARI by-laws the Regional Director serves a two-year term. The current term expires at the end of March 2026. A note went out to all registered patrollers in the region to nominate themselves or someone else. Only one nomination was received, that was for Simon Thomas, currently serving in the position.
At the EMARI Board meeting on 12 August the Board voted to authorize the Chair of the Election Committee to cast one vote for Simon Thomas. That vote was cast and Simon is therefore re-elected for another term beginning on 1 April 2026.
