Senior Outdoor Emergency Care

OEC refresher season is upon us which can only mean one thing......this year's Senior OEC program is right around the corner!

If you're interested in improving your OEC decision making, leadership and problem solving skills I recommend you join us this fall. The scenarios you'll experience will challenge you as they include difficult extractions, multiple patients, multiple injuries, communication difficulties and equipment failure. Your future patients will be grateful for your enhanced skills and care.

The schedule for this year is as follows:

• Kick off Call - Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm (Details in calendar)

• Skills Sign off - November 9th and 10th @ Nashoba. 9am-3:30pm. (November 10th is only necessary if skills sign off is not completed on the 9th.)

• Clinic #1 - Saturday, November 16th @ Blue Hills 9am-3:30pm.

• Clinic #2 - Sunday, November 24th @ Nashoba 9am-3:30pm.

• Clinic #3- Sunday, December 1st at Wachusett 9am-3:30pm.

• Clinic #4 - Saturday, December 7th @ Blue Hills 9am-3:30pm.

• Clinic #5- Sunday, December 15th @ Wachusett 9am-3:30pm.

• Pre Test - Saturday, December 28th @ Wachusett 9am-3:30pm.

• Final Evaluation - Saturday, January 4th @ Nashoba 8am-???

If you are interested in participating you need to do the following:

Brush up on your OEC skills prior to the start of the program. Skills signoff day is not the day to be knocking the rust off. I encourage you to reach out to a TE(Trainer-Evaluator), we're happy to work with you and ensure you are ready to go on day one. Attached below is the TE contact list, along with the skills you'll need to demonstrate proficiency in, for your reference.

Obtain your Patrol Director's approval to participate. Your PD will vouch for your OEC skills.

Check your calendar and ensure you can attend the clinics. Missing clinics will decrease your chances of successfully completing the program.

I'll schedule a Zoom call with folks who are interested 2-3 weeks prior to the skills clinic. We'll discuss expectations, scheduling, requirements and answer your questions.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out or ask me at the upcoming refreshers. My goal is to attend as many refreshers as I can.
